Automatiq TestSystem

The Automatiq TestSystem Components

  • TestStation 1000

The TestStation is a benchtop test controller that connects to a standard PC through its USB port, applies analog and digital test stimulus signals to the Unit Under Test (UUT), measures the response of the UUT to the test signals generated by a test program running on the PC.

Test signals are connected to the UUT through Automatiq's Standard Test Fixture Kit that plugs into the top of the TestStation, providing as many as 1200 signal lines between the TestStation and the UUT.

The TestStation has slots for 19 Test Modules.  The standard TestSystem is delivered with one System Control TestModule and two General Purpose TestModules:

The System Control TestModule, located in slot 0 in the TestStation, receives test commands over the USB bus from software running on the host PC, transfers test commands to Test Modules, measures the response signals from the UUT, and sends the measured data back to the host PC for processing.

The System Control TestModule also provides the following test signals:

  • Power: +5V, +/- 12V @ 500 mA
  • Stable voltage reference: +10V
  • Serial port: RS-232 / 422 / 485
  • 2 Precision voltage measurement channels:
    • 16-bit DAC output: +/-12.8V
    • 16-bit ADC input: +/-12.8V

The General Purpose TestModule is the primary source of test and measurement signals.  It plugs into any open slot in the TestStation and has the following features:

  • 16 Independent voltage output channels (for inputs to the UUT), 12-bits, +/-12.8 Volts
  • 16 Independent voltage input channels (for measuring UUT outputs), 12-bits, +/-12.8 Volts
  • Each of the input/output channels may be declared in software to be either a logic signal or an analog signal
  • A positive programmable power supply: 11-bits, 0 to +12.8 Volts
  • A negative programmable power supply: 11-bits, 0 to -12.8 Volts
  • All of the input/output channels can be calibrated automatically

The TestFixture makes connections between the TestStation and the UUT.  It comes as a ready-to-wire kit that is easily modified to connect signals from the internal headers to the UUT via test connectors or an optional bed-of-nails fixture.  TestFixture features include:

  • Reliable Pogo Pin connections to the TestStation

  • Interchangeable to test different boards

  • ID code to select proper tests

  • Adapter Boards to generate custom test signals

  • TestWare

TestWare is a suite of Windows™ software tools used by design engineers, test engineers, and production test operators to specify, design, program, and run functional tests on their products using the Automatiq TestSystem.

TestWare features include:

  • Software for production testing including:
    • TestScript, a BASIC like language to allow rapid development of test programs
    • History Database of test results with test reports
    • Features to print board or package labels with bar codes and serial numbers
    • Functions to prompt the test operator to perform interactive operations and reporting
